Huawei officially launched its 5G multi-mode chipset, Balong 5000, with the first commercial 5G device powered by this processor, the Huawei 5G CPE Pro. Together, these two new products provide the fastest wireless connection in the world for your smartphone, home, office and commute.

Today Balong 5000 officially unlocks the era of 5G. This chipset supports a wide range of 5G products, including smartphones, including home broadband devices, mobile devices and 5G modules. It will offer consumers a new unique 5G experience.

"The Balong 5000 will open a new world for consumers," said Huawei Consumer Business Group President Richard Yu. "It will enable everyone to detect and provide the high-speed connections needed for pervasive intelligence. The Huawei 5G CPE Pro, optimized for the Balong 5000 software, allows consumers to access networks more freely and enjoy an incredibly fast connection experience. Huawei has an integrated set of features on chips, devices, cloud services and networks. Building on these strengths, as a 5G leader, we will bring consumers around the world a unique intelligent experience in every aspect of their lives. "

Huawei launches world's first multi-mode single-chip modem

With a high degree of integration, Balong 5000 supports 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G technologies on a single chip. It effectively reduces power consumption when exchanging data between different modes, and will dramatically improve the user experience in the early stages of the commercial deployment of 5G. Balong 5000 represents a significant step forward for the Balong chipset series.

Balong 5000 is the first chipset to comply with industry standards for maximum download speeds of 5G. At a frequency below 6 GHz, Balong 5000 can achieve download speeds of up to 4.6 Gbps. On the mmWave spectrum, Balong 5000 can reach download speeds of up to 6.5 Gbps, 10 times faster than the best 4G LTE speeds currently available on the market.

Balong 5000 is also the world's first chipset supporting autonomous (SA) and non-autonomous (NSA) network architectures for 5G. With a non-autonomous network architecture, the 5G network architecture is based on 4G LTE networks, while the standalone 5G, as the name suggests, will have its own independent architecture. Balong 5000 can flexibly meet the different requirements of users and operators for connecting devices at different stages of 5G development.

Balong 5000 is the world's first multi-mode chipset that supports V2X communications, providing highly reliable, low latency solutions for connected vehicles. Huawei's 5G smartphones equipped with Balong 5000 will be marketed at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona.

Powered by Balong 5000, the Huawei 5G CPE Pro supports 4G and 5G wireless connections. On a 5G network, a 1GB HD video clip can be downloaded in less than three seconds and an 8K video can be streamed smoothly and without lag. This sets a new benchmark for home-based CPE. Besides the Huawei 5G CPE Pro can also be used by small and medium businesses for ultra-fast broadband access.

Adopting the new Wi-Fi 6 technology, the Huawei 5G CPE Pro offers speeds of up to 4.8 Gbps. This is the first 5G CPE that supports HUAWEI HiLink protocols, enabling smart homes to enter the 5G era.

As a pioneer in 5G, Huawei began research and development in 5G as early as 2009 and is currently the only supplier in the industry able to provide end-to-end 5G systems. Huawei has more than 5,700 engineers dedicated to 5G R & D, including more than 500 5G experts. In total, Huawei has set up 11 common innovation centers for 5G solutions worldwide.
